Abstract:
Technology and knowledge are critical drivers of economic growth and sustainable development, particularly in the Global South, where bridging the gap with developed nations necessitates both economic expansion and environmental responsibility. Traditionally, technology transfer flows from the Global North to the South, facilitated by greater access to capital, finance, and technological capabilities in the North. However, technology and knowledge transfer within the Global South remains under-explored despite its potential to leverage region-specific innovations that align with local environmental and societal contexts. This issue of Eye on the South highlights intra-South technology and knowledge transfer across key sectors, including hydrocarbons, agriculture, ICT, healthcare, and education.
